Canadian Insider Reporting on SEDI

About SEDI

The old style of reporting insider trading data was done on paper; you can probably imagine how outmoded and error-prone that would be these days. Today, SEDI (System for Electronic Disclosure by Insiders) is the new way for insiders of SEDI issuers to gather data and report on insider trading data in Canada. Canadian issuers now required to file insider reports electronically using the SEDI website. Because SEDI is electronic system and available online, the public can easily access any information there.

Any insider who wishes to file data electronically on the SEDI website has the option to do so on their own or ask for the assistance of agents (like Offistra) to work on their behalf.

SEDI Filing Process

You will have accomplished SEDI filing process after you do the following:

  • Create an insider profile. This process will automatically generate an insider number and access key. In case a profile has not yet been created we will create a profile on behalf of the client and an insider number and access key will be obtained.
  • Accomplishing and sending of Form 55-102F6. The client must complete a paper version of Form 55-102F6, sign it, and forward it to us by fax or e-mail. This is to better facilitate a more accurate and efficient reporting on the client’s behalf. Insider reporting data for SEDI in any other format will no longer be accepted.
  • Receive notification. The rest of the process will be carried out by our professionals. You will receive submission confirmation once the SEDI filing has been completed.

If you wish to learn more about SEDI system, please download the SEDI User Guide (Adobe Acrobat software required) from the Canadian Securities Administrators website and help files from the SEDI website.
